Mai is one of the country’s top barristers and a public law expert. She was the inaugural Chair of Global Women and was named in the Top 50 Diversity Figures in Public Life in the Global Diversity List, supported by The Economist. She founded the Superdiversity Institute of Law, Policy and Business, NZ Asian Leaders and NZ Asian Lawyers, and Superdiverse Women. She formerly sat on the Securities Commission and the Bank of New Zealand Board.
