FIFA Women’s World Cup™ Trophy touches down in Aotearoa New Zealand

After visiting the other 30 participating nations in an official tour that began in February, the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023™ Trophy has made its way to Aotearoa New Zealand and Australia, sparking excitement among football fans nationwide.

Weighing 4.6 kilograms and standing over 18 inches tall, the Trophy has crossed oceans and continents, spreading enthusiasm for the world's largest women's sporting event.

With less than 50 days to go until the tournament kicks off, anticipation is building, and enthusiasts are eager to catch a glimpse of the prestigious prize.

The Aotearoa New Zealand leg of the Trophy Tour commenced in Auckland over the weekend, where it was unveiled by the legendary American football player, Briana Scurry. As the defending champions of the FIFA Women's World Cup™, Team USA holds a special connection to the Trophy and its significance.


Over the next month, the Trophy will make its way between tournament co-hosts Aotearoa New Zealand and Australia, making stops along the way to engage with football fans of all levels and backgrounds. FIFA legends and special guests will accompany the Trophy, aiming to inspire future female football talent.


Weighing a substantial 4.6 kilograms and standing over 18 inches tall, the Trophy has embarked on an extensive journey, crossing oceans and continents, spreading enthusiasm for the world's largest women's sporting event. Now, it's time for the people of Aotearoa New Zealand to have their moment with this iconic symbol of achievement.


The Trophy is scheduled to appear at Mystery Creek in Hamilton on Saturday June 17th before embarking on a journey to Tauranga, Rotorua, and Taupō. From June 22nd to 25th, it will visit Dunedin, making appearances at various events including the Dunedin Midwinter Carnival. The Trophy will then captivate football fans in the capital, heading to Wellington from July 12th to 14th.


With the Trophy's arrival in Aotearoa New Zealand, the excitement surrounding the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023™ continues to grow.
