A Spotlight on New Zealand’s Creativity
New Zealand Music Month began as a simple campaign encouraging more local music on radio, and it has grown into one of the country's most recognisable cultural celebrations. In 2026 the focus is on global discovery, encouraging the world to explore new artists emerging from New Zealand.
This year continues the push for international visibility, inviting listeners worldwide to share, stream, and showcase music from New Zealand.
New Zealand Takes Centre Stage at The Great Escape 2026
One of this year’s most exciting global moments is New Zealand’s selection as Lead Country Partner for the 20th anniversary of The Great Escape in Brighton — one of the world’s premier festivals for new music discovery.
The partnership brings two curated showcases, an industry panel, and a full takeover of Brighton’s Patterns venue on 14 May, hosted by the New Zealand Music Commission and Live Nation New Zealand with support from the Ministry for Culture and Heritage and the British Council.
